Minquadale Fire Company is looking for dedicated and hard-working men and women to become involved in our ever-growing combination department.  We offer full-time and part-time employment opportunities for trained firefighter/EMTs, and volunteer opportunities for members of the community, both trained and untrained, who are interested in serving the department as a firefighter, junior firefighter, ride-along or auxiliary member.  We also offer the opportunity for students to complete community service hours.

 

Full-Time / Part-Time Employment Opportunities: We are continuously seeking trained firefighter/EMTs with excellent work ethic and people skills to help serve our growing community.  Our full-time and part-time staff respond to both EMS and fire related incidents.  Our staff is responsible for providing basic life support care and transport on medical emergencies and often have the opportunity to utilize their fire and rescue skills on a variety of emergencies including but not limited to fires, car accidents, technical rescues, and HAZMAT emergencies.  

If you are interested in joining our department as a part-time firefighter/EMT, you must meet the following qualifications*:

  • Be at least 21 years of age and poses a high school diploma or GED
  • Current Delaware EMT, NREMT, and CPR certification
  • Pass a criminal background check, physical, and drug test
  • Completion of Delaware State Fire School classes: Basic Firefighting Skills, Structural Firefighting Skills, Vehicle Rescue, Hazardous Materials Response Skills, Driver/Pump Operator, and Crew Leader or their equivalents.

Volunteer Opportunities: Becoming a volunteer can give you a sense of pride and accomplishment, looks great on a resume, and provides valuable experiences and skills you can take with you into a variety of careers.  Volunteering with your local fire department is a great way to support your neighbors and community as well as make lifelong friends that become a second family.  All volunteer members receive free training in firefighting, CPR/AED, vehicle rescue, and other specialized certifications.
